Not in the least. The Azlu aren't really spider-spirits per se; they're shards of the Spinner-Hag that have taken on spider form since spiders are basically the closest terrestrial thing to what the Spinner-Hag was.

There's a difference between a Host and a Ridden. If a spider-spirit were to possess a human, that would be a Ridden. A Host is born out of the soul-shards of a primeval spirit-monster.

They should be like the Azlu in making; they're both Hosts. This is what a Host is — the remnants of a great spirit monster turned fleshy swarm. Hosts aren't Ridden, nor are they spirits — that's why we have the whole “Host” term in place. It's something different.

精霊-肉体を持っていない
Host-精霊から生まれたが、肉体を持っている
というような解釈でいいんですかねえ…確かにややこしい。
